The final day of the meteorological summer is upon us and for many it will be rather cool and cloudy - which pretty much sums up Summer 2011 for the majority. Provisionally it looks like this summer will be the coolest for at least 18 years although there will of course be regional variations on this with some places doing slightly better and others slightly worse.
