The battle between the cold air to the east of Britain and Atlantic weather systems continues today, with a stalemate the current outcome. Therefore for much of Britain and Ireland it is a cloudy and rather murky scene today with a brisk south-easterly wind picking up, before another Atlantic system pushes east as it tries to dislodge the Scandinavian high pressure.
